We WIN with WE!

We call ourselves Troop 839 because scouts from across central Ohio meet in Warehouse 839 in Hilliard, Ohio. Our official Troop number is 7839 as the leading "7" indicates an all-female troop.

We know that without the efforts of the women who came before us, including some of our current leaders, all female troops, and Cubs in the BSA, we would not be here today. Youth females ages 14+ were welcomed to join exploring in the late 60’s. In the late 80’s, women were allowed to be more than committee members and den mothers. They could become Assistant Scoutmasters, Webelos Den Leaders, and Cub Masters. They were also eligible for the Order of the Arrow.

In the early 90’s women were accepted as Scoutmasters. Until 2018 the youngest a female could be in the BSA was 14. It was then that Cub Scouts were opened to females ages 5-10. In 2019, the BSA offered its flagship program, Scouts BSA, to females ages 11-17. Today, many girls participate in both GSA and BSA and many even earn their highest Eagle rank; enough that there is a term for girls who reach the top rank in both programs. Golden Eagles.
